On November 15th, 2011, SPORT+MARKT’s International Football Summit took place in Cologne for the eighth time. About 200 participants from more than 17 different countries joined the congress, including representatives of adidas, Manchester City, Volkswagen, FC Barcelona, FIFA, Premier League, DFL and FC Bayern Munich. We heard fascinating presentations and discussions on the topic of football business.
BetClic from Italy, Univé from the Netherlands and Audi from Germany gave explicit insights in their sponsoring strategies. Red Bull closed the morning session with an impromptu interview.
In the afternoon Galatasaray outlined the “New Stadium” effect of the Turk Telkom Arena in Istanbul. The Asian Football Confederation presented “The Continuing Growth and Development of AFC Champions League” and the current German football champion Borussia Dortmund talked about “Opportunities and Pitfalls in Marketing Championship Success”. Later the day representatives from Ajax Amsterdam, FC Shakhtar Donetsk, FC Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund discussed the topic “Fan Loyalty” at “The Champions Table”. An informal get-together at Harry's New York Bar completed the day.
